I say OUT HIM..... just a mention of his name in a thread
I'm not big on doing reviews, tobacco doesn't taste like "cocoa" or "nutty" or "mocha" to me, it tastes like freakin' TOBACCO. I know what I like and I really don't care what other people think of other cigars. I've never read a review and said to myself "Wow, that sounds like a cigar I'd like to try!"

I agree, expose the person. You are a very generous BOTL to send the gift....failure to acknowledge it, AND post a public thank-you.....is not an oversight.

Is the person you did this for still active on the board?

If you haven't check their profile and see the last time they logged in.

You can't go wrong outing the guy. If there was some legitimate reason for his slackass remissness, you can always make it up with a couple more sticks. There is some obligation to the community to shine the light on this kind of shit. Hell, if he has a reason for not acknowledging the gift (hospitalized, on vacation on the Amazon w/o 'puter, etc.), I'll send make up sticks.

I agree that an acknowledgement of thanks is in order. I don't necessarily agree that it must be public...the cigar was gifted without board knowledge, the thanks doesn't have to be known by the board either.

True. A behind-the-scenes deal is all good, unless somebody fucks up, and is unwilling to clean up the mess. Then it becomes a community issue. IMO, even if the guy were to pm a late thankyou, then it's over. No need to spread it out then.

Point well taken, as well as Basil's follow up.

I think the real problem was that you never said "THANK YOU"

hmm. Goes to show (once again) there are always (at least) two sides to every story. I received a pm, indirectly, about cls' concerns, and encouraged him to hit you with another pm (I guess the first one you quoted here). In my pm back to him, I stated that you may've thought to pm him a "thank you", unintentionally forgotten, and then remembered it as having done so.

Also, sounds like he might've had a trade in mind but communicated to you that it was a gift. Unclear communication. If this is the case cls, then ask for a trade when that's what you want. Give the other party the chance to say yes.

At any rate, this is one damn cigar, over which there was most likely, as you said hutch, a miscue. No big damn deal.

I, as do the rest of the board, appreciate your work on the SS. And cls, you seem like a decent guy. In a "let's put this behind us" poll, I'd vote hell yes.

You're right. You did write me a PM saying you had it in your possession after I asked if you received it. I remember now. My mistake. Out of my sincerity, I do not remember a thank you and I came away from that gift with a bad taste. In honesty I did feel disrespected.

I did not ask for anything in return but hinted a return gesture would be nice. I stated clearly I was willing to give you a nice cigar, and something in return would be nice. A box trade was not part of the condition. But, I was willing to if you were also.

BK, the cigar was one of my favorites.

In all fairness it should be put behind and nothing like this should happen here on these boards. Hutch thanks for coming and getting things out in the open.

No problem bro. I removed the post I put above as to not start any more drama. Drop me a PM with your address, as I do not have it anymore, and you may receive a package sometime out of the blue like a few other members.
