Way to go Sid, this post is in the category of:
"I'm sorry but you're still an asshole."![]()
And again, it is a big deal when you post something political and controversial as a fact and when you're asked to back it up you don't reply. You claimed the major parties were engaging in a smear campaign against Friedman and no one could find any evidence of that.

Quiet, Bill - you're distracting Sid from ignoring us. Why do you have to keep bringing up his faux pas? So what - he said it and can't back it up - it's true - you just gotta trust him - it's true. And if it isn't, the thread will die in a few days and we can all forget about it, for cripes sake. Why are you CONSTANTLY confusing the issue with the facts?![]()
Besides - Sid's busy putting a ban poll together for you and I because we threatened somewhere on this board - I don't know where - but somewhere - to have him do a ban poll for us - I think - at least that's what he said. Didn't he??? Yeah - I think he did... Somewhere... Or was that you that said something. Maybe it was Barry... No - I think it was Sid - yeah - it was Sid - and it was a threat!!! I'm sure of it!!!
Oh - and also - Sid's chasing asshats in another thread. You're so yesterday...

I vote we give Bill and Barry each a big shiny trophy 'cause they're both winners. With a gold star, too.
Oh, and by the way... no ban!!!
Edit: to see why I'm in such a generous mood... read today's smokes column.
<grin>

I don't really agree with Barry's views on politics and religion or the way he reacts to people who have different opinions. That being said, I don't get my panties in a wad about it either. He keeps it in the appropriate forum and has proven to be a BOTL and has given good advice to members. I don't come here for political or spiritual advice and I usually stay out of the politcs forum unless I need a good laugh.
I have no problem with him -- no ban.
I was hesitant to post to this thread, being a new member and all, so consequently I will not vote. I would just like to say that I have read, and benefitted from, posts from ALL of the involved parties to this dispute. All qualify as BOTL imho, so any attempt to ban any of you from a CIGAR board for expressing opposing political beliefs is simply misguided. It seems to me that enough offensive, personal attacks have been exchanged by all...tit for tat!! If these kinds of arguments are unavoidable, the politics forum would seem to be the appropriate place for them.
Some apologies have already been exchanged.....can't ya'll just move on and just agree to disagree?

BTW, I am a Libertarian so I would not support any type of censorship, especially in a forum designed for people to air their beliefs. Physical threats don't qualify as a belief, imho, nor does name-calling!! That is more like playground stuff......I am rubber you are glue, etc, etc.
Look... It's not about who you agree or disagree with politically. I don't really care about Barry's political views... or Bill's... or Sid's... or George's...
What I care about is Barry... and Bill... and Sid... And George...
All are terrific guys. None of them are assholes, or dumb shits, or fucktards,
Politics is a profession, nothing more. Politicians and their machines are getting to the level of used car salesmen. No one gets to higher office because of their overriding desire to do good. They get there because of their perceived ability by their party fat cats to get votes. Political spinners and talking heads are getting everyone all heated up for no one but their own benefit. After all, it's what they get paid to do. Political stances are nothing more than 30 second snippets, venomous opinions by "journalists" and 2 minute "news" stories. I have seen more political ads this mid term than I can ever remember... the vast majority of them being just plain ugly. No one talks about themselves, they just cut down their opponents. Then in the last 5 seconds it's "I won't do that... vote for me!" It's all horse shit. And it seems they serve no useful purpose other than to get people so heated up about one candidate that they vote for the opponent.
Does anyone actually believe that any of these vultures are their saviors?? Let's quit beating up people that we consider friends in the name of these assholes, dumb shits and fucktards. They all lie, they all spin the truth, and none of them are in it because of some overriding desire to save the world. They are highly paid placeholders who can do nothing but what they are told to do by their political party. And the only thing I "hate" is when you guys go for blood to defend these fucking so called heros.
So step back and take a look at what the pros are doing to us. The vote is one of the only voices offered to the general populace in this country. Once the vote is over, the direction of the country is in the hands of those we vote into office and those who pull their strings... and we can't do anything about it until the next election. The fear of losing your vote in the next election is the only thing that keeps these assholes in check. That's how the system was designed and that's how it works. So get the facts, interpret them in your own way as best you can, understand what the party stands for and go vote your own conscience. That's how we are heard in our political system, not by friends shouting insults at each other on an internet web site.
And for God sake... get it into your head that there are lots of great people out there who are going to see it differently!
I think he means "cut and pasted" and since I'm usually pretty lousy at trying to find thing on the internet (I did try and couldn't find it at the time) I asked Sid to please provide the link to where he got it from. Come to think of it Sid, if you "c/p it" you should have provided WHERE you lifted if from so as not to let the readers think it was your own words.
I tried again to locate where Sid saw that and this time I was able to find it, word for word. Sure enough, it wasn't from a polliing company or a newspaper, it was from Kinky Friedman's website. For cryin' out loud Sid, that's NOT a credible place to get an unbiased story on what's really going on.
Now aren't we all shocked and amazed that Kinky would misrepresent the truth on his own website? I'm not, because it's politicians like him (who essentially lie) that give all of the rest of them a bad name.
At the time Sid made the post, Friedman was running fourth out of four candidates based on newspaper stories I was able to find at the time. Apparently there are actually five candidates in the race, Republican, a Libertarian, a Democrat, an Independent and Friedman (another independent)
As of today, I saw a comment on Kinky's own website where it was reported that Rasmussen (a highly respected and reputable polling company) has Friedman "way down."
Only 15 days left an then Friedman's bubble bursts as he finds himself losing this race.![]()

For the record, I am not voting. I do not think Barry should be banned. Therefore, I will not vote to ban him. However, I will not vote "no ban" because I do not want for an instant anyone to think I in any way condone his statements, and by statements I DO NOT mean political affiliation.
Also I don't like the 90-day option. I thought 30 was the way we did it. 90 days is too long.
