Thread: Newbie, broke, smoking dog rockets, looking for help

  1. Default Newbie, broke, smoking dog rockets, looking for help

I am dirt poor but I love cigars.

I have been smoking Famous Smoke Dominican 4000's and #59 Factory Throwouts

I love Macanudo and Montecristo but cant afford them. I smoke mild varieties because I have a cigar in my mouth almost all day and evening.

I wonder if anyone could help me upgrade to a better cigar for a similar price to the Dominican 4000's. I pay 34.95 for 25 shipped

    thanks

    Twice in one day!!!!!

Sorry. You might want to try an upgrade to A Turrent, or 5 Vegas gold? They're a little more, but pretty good for the mild side.

Seriously, there are many decent cigars out there, but you may have to ask youself if cigars are important in the big scheme right now... do some searching around here, there are a few threads about "budget" smokes with plenty of good suggestions.

I smoked a Famous 4000 last night. And I would pass up a Macanudo for a Famous 4000 today. But yes, if anyone finds cigars comparable to Monte's for $34.95 let me know too.

I want to send this guy some cigars just b/c of his wildy creative username! It's crazy!

"Dirt poor" and "loving cigars" is similar to saying "Dirt Poor" and "loving BMWs"

    Here's what you want...

    Here's what you get...

Have you tried Backwoods? That would be the dirt poor cigar version of a dirt poor BMW...

Now stop, Arty - the dirt poor version of a cigar is (by its very definition) a cigar-ette...

this thread was a flop. I apologize for the thread.

however I overstated my financial situation. I am not a bum on the street who doesn't shower.

I just make a small salary and pay my bills

I meant I love Macanudo and Montecristo but cant afford them I don't expect anyone to help me find them for 34.95 for 25.

I was thinking cusano M1, La Unica, or other bundles of value.

again, Im sorry for the thread.

Thanks for the clarification.. to be honest, I kinda took your first post as an attempt at mooching!

If I have time today, I'll look around online for some good values, I know of some, I just can't seem to put a name on them.

Personally, if it came down to a choice between quality or quantity, I would probably chose quality and smoke a few less cigars per week.

Look at this situation from our point of view: Would you walk into your local cigar shop and ask them for cheaper cigars, or complain about not having enough money for their nicer sticks? Sounds a lot like you are asking for a handout. Maybe I'm wrong.

If you enjoy the hobby, are there any other ways you can support this hobby? Maybe pick up an extra job? Maybe not smoke so much? Maybe you'd be able to smoke better, or at least different sticks.

And try the search function. It helps.

    Welcome from northwest Louisiana.

I figured I'd sit tight and let some of the more experienced BOTL's handle this, but I am sick and tired of sitting here and listening to all these pleas for hand outs. Times are tough for me as well, but instead of asking for handouts, I prioritize my spending and cut back on purchases for now. Better times will come, and I can wait to buy more smokes until then. If you want more smokes, either get another job, get a better job, or sell a kidney. Asking for handouts is lame, but stipulating what you'll pay and for how many smokes is in poor taste, especially when it's $35 for 25 smokes. Sorry for the rant, but you're not the only experiencing tough times!

P.S. No, this isn't a plea for help. I handle my business on my own!
Smoke em' if you got em'
